Sanity's End

I'd like to explain,
the immense pain,
so inhumane,
that drives a mind insane.
Like others I've fought,
with the probable thought,
the brain has gone to rot,
but I feel this is not.
On the other hand,
it begins to expand,
trying to understand,
all that it can.
Daring and bold,
questioning what it's told,
trying to grasp hold,
ideas both new and old.
Then a sudden demise,
as it comes to realize,
the deception of it's eyes,
for truths are really lies.
Confusion all over again,
time no longer a friend,
nothing left to believe in,
can you comprehend?
It's sanity at it's end!
