Sitting Friends

We are sitting so close together,
yet the distance seems so far.
I want to hold you in my arms,
but you're happy where you are.
So I guess I'll just sit here,
my feelings I'll restrain.
And that distance between us,
shall continue to remain.
And even though I might want more,
I know it can never be.
For these feelings I have towards you,
you do not have for me.
Everyday you're in my thoughts,
and every night my dreams.
And every time I need a friend,
you're always there it seems.
So as we sit here, I ask myself,
is this where it ends?
You and me, always forever,
just sitting friends?
